How do I sort my favorites in windows explorer? When I try the pull down menu in windows explorer all I get is " add a favorite" or "Organize" which only allows me to delete or rename a favorite.

In the favorites window, right click and select "Sort by
name"

Known as "favicon"
When you clear the Temporary Internet Files
the favicon is cleared. If your TIF size is
small (1-5mb) then over time the favicon will
be kicked out in favor of new one.

Find these FREE programs:
FAVORG or FAVICONIZER
These will save the icons in a different
folder and fixes your favorites
with the favicon icons.

Check: Tools > Options > Advanced tab.
Security section:
[x] Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when
browser is closed.
Make desired changes and exit out.

to do this manually......gets easier if use
temp and icon directories as favorites items
----------------------------------
save site as a favorite or link
go to internet temp file:
path =
[Tools] button
Internet Options...
General tab
[Settings...] button
[View files...] button (middle button)
(save this as a "favorite" listing - future use)
find & select favicon.ico (ICON)
(or other name.ico because some sites change the name)
right-click > copy (the favicon.ico)
------------------------------
go to directory c:/WINDOWS/system32 (in Windows XP HomeEd)
right-click and create a new Folder
rename this new Folder (example: 1_icons)
open this new folder
(save this as a "favorite" listing - future use)
right-click > paste (the favicon.ico)
favicon[#].ico appears
rename this new favicon[#].ico (example: sitename.com.ico)
-------------------------------------------
Change the icon in your Favorites/Links listing:
1. Right-click the item/site in listing
2. Select Properties
3. Click [Change Icon...] button
4. Click [Browse...] button (in Change Icon window)
5. Find new folder from above effort: (1_icons is good
name?)
6. Find and Click desired favicon.ico
7. Click [Open] button (out of icon listing window)
8. Click [Ok] button (out of Change Icon window)
9. Click [Ok] button (out of Properties window)
Favicon should appear in Favorites/Links listing

Click on Favorites in the MENU bar. NOT the Toolbar. The first two items
should be Add to Favorites, then, Organize Favorites. Immediately under
Organize Favorites is a gray line. Move your pointer below the gray line and
click your right mouse button. From the shortcut menu, click "Sort By Name".
It's the second item from the bottom.

You can also sort your Programs menu this way. Click Start/Programs (All
Programs in XP), move your pointer to the Programs menu. Click the Right
mouse button and click on the Sort By Name option.

Joe,
You can also click the Favorites button on the TOOLBAR and
when it opens up in the left pane, you can grab ANY shortcut and
drag it up or down to your desired location.. You can also drag
them in and out of different sub-folders. Works for me.
