Is there any way to sort the contacts by date entered or date last modified?
I have over two hundred entries in my contact list. If I entered a new entry
a week ago and can't remember the persons name, there must be some way to
have the program show me the most recent entries. I'm sure the program must
store this imformation somewhere.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Create a custom table-style view of the Contacts folder and use the Field
Chooser to add the date fields to the view -- then you can sort on them.

After much trial and error I figuered out how what and where the Field
Chooser button was, and how to add a date field, but after I added this new
field category, I find that all of the field boxes are empty, or more
precisely filled with the word "None". Aren't these supposed to be filed with
the date and time that the entries was created or modified by Outlook? I
opened and closed Outlook to see if that made a difference but it did not. I
also added some info to a contact and resaved but sill no entry except "None"
in box for this field. P.S. I failed to mention this on my first post, but my
version of Outlook is 2000, in case that makes a differnce.

Thanks again for your help.

What category of available fields did you grab the date fields from, and what
are the exact names of the fields you added? I don't have a copy of Outlook
2000 here to test this with but I can do some more research while I wait for
you to answer this reply (not tonight, though, it's late here!).

Say you are using a table view, like phone list. Right-clicking on the
column-title bar gives you some choices including the Field Choser.
Select it. In the pull-down menu, pick the appropriate grouping of
fields, in this case, "All Contact Fields". Then select "Created"
and/or "Modified" and insert it where you can see it.

You can then either sort by clicking the column title header or you can
filter and sort by modifying the current view appropriately.

Thanks, this did the trick. I added each of these two fields "Created" and
"Modified" and both have the date and time in them.

During my search I even spent time searching through a 2 1/2 inch thick book
I had purchased entiltled "Special Edition: Using Microsoft Office Outlook
2003" by Patricaia Cardoza, and while what I was looking for may be in this
book, the index is so poor that I was unable to find it.

Thanks again for your post

Outlook 2000's help file had no information about adding fields to a view?
