Sorting Address Book

In Outlook 2000, I was able to go into Contacts, open
Tools > Address Book > View > Sort by and then choose
Last Name. This was perfect when using the To: icon when
creating mail.

I have installed on new desktop Windows Outlook 2002 (XP
Pro Version) and cannot find this same ability.

Is this great feature gone forever or is there a way to
peform this function. I've searched every forum I can
find, to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appriciated...

before). I tried it out. However, much to my chagrin,
Outlook's address book still sorted by "First Name" first.
Is there any way to actually sort by "Last Name" first?

(I am using Outlook 2002 on Windows 2000)

This method is the only way.
Obviously, it requires that your File As... field is configured as Last,
First. Apparently yours is not.

If I've understood this right, all you need to do is
Choose the Phone List View from Contacts > View > Current
View, then you can sort by clicking the top of the Last
Name column. Easy.
(Of course, I may have misunderstood your problem, but...)

That sorts the Contacts Folder, not the Address Book.

The Outlook Address Book is merely a dynamic view of the electronic
addresses contained in your Contacts Folder. It contains no separate data.
