View options - "Fit image to window" and its variants not working under
linux. I am using the latest linux static release (.rpm) on Mandrake
9.2.

Any assistance (or at least confirmation that I am not alone) would be
appreciated.

Thanks! }:O)

(Nice app, btw...I just discovered it, on the recommendation of a
friend...I'd seen it announced here before, but never made the
leap...next best thing to IrfanView for linux!)

Slack 9.1 - Xnview 1.50 here. Seems to work just fine on my end. I
tried a huge 2048x2048 jpg and a tiny 16x16 icon image and they both
were expanded or compressed rather nicely in any layout I had
chosen. Even resized the viewing window and the images were modified
as I expected.

I dunno, maybe your settings in the options dialog aren't quite
right. Did you run it via xterm and see any messages. But I'll bet
you already went thru all that ;).

Anyway, I DL'd the binary from the xnview web site some time ago.

Yep. Not so bad.

Also using 1.50, here. I can see two places, in the Options dialog,
where this behaviour is set: in 'view' and 'browser'. Can you offer
any insight into why this duplication would be necessary? Perhaps I
don't see the distinction between the two settings?

Also, what settings do you have set for the two 'fit' settings?

Yeah. No errors. I just doesn't seem to work. }:O\

In the browser (you do startup with that yes?) the view settings are
related to the 'open' command on the pop-up menu when you right
click on an image icon. This opens up a separate viewing window
outside the browser. The right click only works in one pane in the
browser anyway.
Also, what settings do you have set for the two 'fit' settings?

For the view settings: fit window to image (I hardly use the view
anyway). For the browser: fit image to window all. On my end, the
three pane browser and the external viewer do indeed squash and
expand any image I've tried. Rather odd yours fails. Proprietary
code can be a wildcard. Maybe sending a note to the author is in
order. I'd guess he'd know exactly where to start looking for the
problem.
Yeah. No errors. I just doesn't seem to work. }:O\

Yep. Odd indeed. Been mucking around with your system lately? Change
anything in Xfree or any libraries?. Did the mdk folks change
something along the way? Does it work on an older mdk distro? Does
another mdk user experience the same thing?.

Too many questions. Prior to getting xnview I've used 'danpei' and
'pixieplus (KDE)'. Probably have to compile them though. They're
mostly just viewers.

Danpei
http://danpei.sourceforge.net/

Google for the other.

Hope you get it sorted out.

No to all of the above.

I don't know why, but it's working now! I didn't do *anything*. Chalk
it up to 'just one of those things'... }:O)

Thanks. Always good to have a fallback.

I looks like it is, now. }:O)

For some reason, I find myself being highly suspicious of that
statement.

Cool. However, like any good linux user, you know I have to say
it...

You're an idiot!. [massive grin]
