Hi there,
(Sorry this does not display as intendedm hope you get the drift - I was trying to represent an grid format)
I am using excel on a mac so cannot (and don't know how to) use VBA for this. So I'm wondering if it can be done with formulas. I have tried using series after series of techniques spread across many different sheets to no avail. I have an online form which will only download in a certain format and am using a data merge function in Indesign which will only work with a certain format.
So 'quite simply' I need to get from this:
Name Company Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Item 4
David Tesco 1 0 3 0
Henry Apple 0 1 0 0
Sally Poundland 0 0 0 2
Alan M&S 0 1 0 1
...to this:
Item No. Name Company
Item 1 David Tesco
Item 2 Henry Apple
Item 2 Alan M&S
Item 3 David Tesco
Item 3 David Tesco
Item 3 David Tesco
Item 4 Sally Poundland
Item 4 Sally Poundland
Item 4 Alan M&S
This is simplified and there are a few more stages but I've got them sussed, but I can't figure out a way to do this using excel on a mac. I'm happy to buy Numbers, learn to use Automator or anything really. So if anyone could suggest a solution I'd be extremely grateful and relieved! (Ideally a formula solution as I've just got to grips with them - I think!)
Thanks in advance,
David
