Sort on Protected Worksheet

When protecting a worksheet - selecting users will be allowed to select
protected and unprotected cells, and users will be allowed to sort.

After protecting the worksheet in this way, sort is not allowed. Is this a
bug?

Probably not a bug as you might think. When you set the worksheet protection
to permit sorting, all of the cells that will be involved in the sort must be
unlocked also. Yeah, I know, I wish it worked differently also.

(P.S. I'm not MSFT employee/representative).

Hi JLatham,

I thought that contiguous unlocked cells would automatically allow sorting
on a protected worksheet, however it isn't functioning that way.

I vote that selecting sort as an exception for protection does not require
unlocking cells; and that unlocking cells allows sort automatically on a
protected worksheet.
