Sort contacts in two languages alphabetically

I am using MS Outllook 2007 (English version). My contact list is in two
languages, i.e. English and Russian. I have a constant problem: the program
won't sort the contacts alphabetically. It represents them mixed up in
neither English nor Russian alphabetical order. I've tried changing all kinds
of settings and customizing the view but to no avail. I've noticed, however,
that when taken separately English contacts get sorted just fine by simply
clicking on the Sort by... tab above the list. The same doesn't happen to the
contacts in Russian though. I use an HTC pocket PC and synchronize the
contacts with MS Outlook. I should say that my HTC shows the contacts
correctly by default all the time, i.e. first English contacts alphabetically
sorted A - Z, then Russian contacts sorted in the same manner. I've been
trying to achieve exactly the same view of my contact list in MS Outlook. For
now it seems that the problem lies in Russian contacts not being sorted and
randomly squeezing in between the Englsih contacts which causes the whole
mess.
Resolution would be hugely appreciated.

Do you have a second language selected under Tools->options->contact
options?

I've got the "Show an additional Contacts Index" option enabled in Cyrillic
if that's what you mean. I don't really know what it's for though and it
doesn't seem to make any difference to me anyway.
