You can right click on the column headers and choose More and then add Last
Name and then First Name so you can sort like the rest of the world, unlike
the way MS has dictated.

I'm a bit slow - Please elaborate and be more specific, such as which
column
headers.

Open the contacts folder>the column headers are above the fields that you
have selected now, Name - e-mail address - home phone etc

Views is set to Details? Needs to be if not.

You see the column names like Name, E-mail Address, Business Phone, Home
Phone?

Right click ON one of them

Select More

There are the other columns you can choose.

If you have the Menubar set, you can click on the View menu and then select
Choose Details

In Mail, I went to Tools, Window Contacts and set the view to Details. It
lists my contacts by first name. I right clicked on the Name column, selected
More and the options listed are for showing more details for the displayed
contacts. Name is checked (grayed out), first name is checked and last name
is checked. It doesn't give a "sort by" option. So, I went up to View on the
Menu bar, selected Sort by and checked last name and nothing changed. Very
frustrating.

now, in the Contacts folder, left-click on the last name header... it will
sort in ascending order, click again, it sorts in descending order...

There isn't a sort by option there, you click on the Column to sort by that
column.

The View menu and Sort By should show it when Last Name is selected (it
won't show if it isn't selected).

Yeah, it is a bit frustrating. This universal switch over to where
everything can see or use everything else is weird right now.
