I am setting up a wireless network for my neighbour and have got his new
Netgear wireless router/modem working fine on one of his PCs OK.
I am not familiar with the proprietary software on his Sony Vaio Laptop but
the built-in wireless adaptor cannot see any wireless networks available
even though it is sitting right next to his modem. I can only assume it is
either switched off or is running on the wrong frequencies for another
country region. I am told it used to see my own wireless access point
correctly from next door at one time. There are no obvious buttons on the
PC to turn wireless on or off. The device manager has no options for
selecting country (although my own HP laptop does) as it only says it is
enabled (probably only the driver). Win XP is set to UK correctly and the
Netgear modem/router is set correctly to UK frequencies.
Any ideas appreciated.
