I cant seem to get XP to register the Sony TRV27E video
camera via the Firewire. When I connect the camera, I can
see a device in the 61833 Device Class (using Device
Manager) but I get the following message when I
investigate the device status further "Windows cannot
load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may
be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Does anyone have any advice - I believe I have loaded the
USB driver as stated in the DV manual. (apparently I only
need that for USB though???)

kenny,

There seems to be several issues with XP recognising DV
camcorders via firewire. I have an issue with my Sony PCR
DC9E, and I have counted at least 8 other similar queires
on the forum.

I can't get any joy from MS, I have tried a hot fix,
supplied from MS technical team but still no joy.
As a last resort I think I'm going to have to by an
external capture device and connect via USB 2!!!!

I appreciate the response. Still cant get recognition.
The bizarre part about it is that I have had the video
capture working previously (before an electrical storm
caused $1000 worth of damage) now armed with new
motherboard, firewire card and other components I cannot
get the damn DV camcorder to to register.

Dissappointed.

Thanks Again
