Sony Projector - "Fluttering" or "Flashing" problem with ppt

Hello,
I have a Sony VPL-CX5, and lately it has been kind of flashing, or
almost strobing when shown on the output (intermittent). It is not to
the point that the entire picture goes in and out, it just flutters
some. I have noticed that it mostly happens when the powerpoint
screens are light, like with a white background. The manual said to
adjust the Dot Phase, but I have tried at many different settings, and
nothing helps. I thought it may be interference with the electrical
outlet, but tried many different one's, all with the same result.

Could this mean that the bulb is going? It has almost 400 used hours.
About how many hours can this bulb be used?

This will sound weird, but see if plugging the laptop's power cord into a
different power source than the one the projector's plugged into helps. I
just ran into that one this morning, and it resolved our intermittent
flickering screen issue. Something about electrical grounding...
