Hi:

Windows Upgrade Advisor indicates that Sony MPEG RealTime Encoder Decoder
will not work with Vista Premium.

However, I have read elsewhere that there is no problem with current XP
driver. Can anyone tell me for sure whether it will or will not work and if
it works will the upgrade edition of Vista Premium work? I currently have
Windows XP MCE (2005) installed on a Sony VGC-RA716G.

I am in limbo until I can get a definitive answer on this.

Thanks

I hate to add yet another "maybe" to the many non-definitive answers in the
Vista newsgroups, but with the released version my TV tuner DOES WORK!!! I
can download listings, etc. I have not attempted recording yet, and have
not captured to .mpg files since Easy Whatever Creator 9 which is Vista
compatible, is not Vista compatible for my machine. Also I should say that
I changed the x300 ATi graphics card for the Nvidia 7600GS, not sure if that
would have anything to do with it. Wouldn't it be great to pick up the
phone and just freaking ask Sony Technical support? Or Microsoft for that
matter?

Hi Bill:

Yes it would be nice to ask Sony about this problem and get a real answer.
I have asked them numerous times and have gotten nowhere, as to if and when
they will solve this problem. So here I sit.....until I can find a solution.

It works for me!

I have a Sony RZ40CG that I've been dual booting between XP and Vista since
the RC1 beta came out and I installed Vista Home Premium the same way the day
it came out. I received the same Vista Upgrade Advisory that the MPEG
RealTime Encoder would not work under Vista. In both instances this proved
to be not true. Vista installed drivers for this board (I seem to remember
that I had to ask in Device Mangager to find new drivers.) At any rate,
Media Center operates exactly the same as it did under XP MCE 2005; I've
recorded TV programs and played them back without any trouble.

Hi Tom:

Do you think it would work if I just upgraded my XP MCE 2005 to Vista
without dual booting?

Thanks
