I just purchased the Sony HDR-FX1 HD camcorder and I can only get XP to
recognize the camera when it is set to firewire convert the HD video to
standard DV. I have tried everything, including SP2. The device manager will
only show a yellow question mark for the camcorder unless it is in the
conversion mode. Can anyone PLEASE help? I just shot a movie and need to
deliver it in HD.

You need an editor that will handle HD (MPEG with long GOB). Edius HD,
Vegas with HD, Pinnacle Liquid Edition 6, or Premier 1.5 with HD.
VirtualDub was able to do something with M2T files, but I do not remember
the extent of what it could handle.

Try dvinfo.net's community forum for more. There are sections dedicated to
HD.

Just checked and the VirtualDub docs say it does not capture MPEG2, so I am
not sure why I remember someone talking about it in relation to transport
files. Hmmm. I do know that HDTV2MPEG will convert transport files, but I
do not think that you can create M2T files without a capture tool. The M2T
files I have to play with came from a guy in Japan who uses Vegas.

Also check videohelp.com. Have not browsed there lately in regard to HDV,
so there might be something new.
