I rented a Sony Handycam to record my daughter's wedding. In trying to copy
the recorded video to CD-R I get the error message that there is no disc in
the destination drive. I even went to the Picture Perfect web site and
dowloaded the latest versions of bug fixes. Anybody with an idea? I need to
return the camera but will be left with an unusable mini-DV cassette. Many
thanks in advance!!!!

Hey Freddie,
Did anyone reply to your message? I'm having a similar problem, but with
direct hard-drive upload of movie clips from handycam. [so if anyone reads
this and managed to help Freddie... PLEASE email me] I have uploaded movie
clips from my Sony HandyCam HDD 30GB camera (new) and I followed instructions
on the included cd-R and uploaded the requisite software... Image Mixer 3 and
it's supposed to be 1-step dvd-burning once you plug the usb-port in and
connect cam to 'puter. BUT so far WAY more than 1 step BECAUSE ... I keep
getting the error message that there is no disc in drive and to insert a
"readable data cd-r disc and 'try again'" - WAY frustrating. My IBM T43
plays dvds just fine. And it does burn cd-rs and it is a dvd/cd-r burner
(theoretically). My one thought is that the Kodak (I know shoulda used
Maxell or TDK) dvds are messed up or unformated or something (really only
kinda know what I'm talking abou here, I must confess). They are 4.7GB and
the label says they're from 2005. Is there some problem.... I'm missing?
HELP?

Nope, no such luck. It sounds like you are having the same issue. I bought
Memorex CD-Rs so I don't think your Kodak discs are the issue. If anyone
does repsond to me, I will be sure to let you know. thx!

Well, after talking to a technician at an unhealthy hour of the night here
(I'm in Cambodia doing a project ;) ), I discovered that in fact my laptop
only burns cd-rs and not dvds, even though it plays dvds. BUT I was able to
buy an i-book (actually the brand is Transcend). Perhaps you are familiar...
but it saved my butt and my computer's... It is an external hard drive that
is just like a regular hard drive only 1/2 the size or smaller (but bigger
than a thumb drive) - like the size of a pocket dictionary... and you can get
them w/ up to 180 or 200 GB of memory (totally crazy amount of space).
Surely your daughter's wedding will fit. My 90 minute interviews are only
13-14GB... They connect w/ your USB-port. Hope this helps. I think that
perhaps your computer doesn't burn dvd's or cd'rs or perhaps the laser is
broken. So if you download the movie-clips/video to the i-book you can then
plug them in and upload them to any computer that has a functional burner and
your good to go. I know I'm totally relieved. Let me know what happens.
Blessings to you and your daughter and new son-in-law.

Hey,
I'm having the exact same problem. I've put in many blank discs (dv-r, dv+r,
cd-r, cd-rw) and the computer does not read it. What's confusing is that I
have burned part of a video clip and a slide show with pictures before from
this computer and it worked on our dvd player. I don't remember how I managed
to scar my computer into working for me that one time, and it was last year I
belive I did that. Any one have any idea? It really is frusterating.
