I recently bought the Sony DCR-DVD300 Handy cam and am
having the problem of my computer not recognizing my
handycam connected via USB. I'm running XP pro. I loaded
on the USB driver provided w/ the Handycam, but no luck.
Any ideas?

I'm having trouble with Sony as well, however I did manage to do one complete project using a Firewire connection and now the PC will not recognise the camera using the iLink. The first time round I downloaded Version 2.0 of MovieMaker from Microsoft homepage plus all related updates, plugged the iLink in and it worked fine. Now the troubles are starting. Look at www.papajohn.org ... Camcorders...Intro ...Sony there are many useful hints. Good luck. Peter

I also have the DCR-DVD300 HandyCam and am wondering why it is
necessary to capture video through a cable when the movie is already on
a disk that can be read by the computer? I notice that the file format
on the mini-dvd is not recognized by movie editing software, but there
must be some program out there that will import that format. I even
went to the Sony website, with no luck, however.
