Hi everyone,
I have a Sony camcorder (HandyCam) TRV-250 and I seem to
be having a little trouble with the USB-plug. Sometimes
when I plug it in to the computer it doesn't come on, but
when I wiggle the plug on the camcorder then I hear the
windows sound indicating a connection. But even with this
sometimes it does not register.
I have two sources, the USB plug that came with the
camera and an Adaptec AFW-4300A Host Adapter, or "Fire-
Wire". This is the one that is not consistent. However I
like it better than the one that came with the camera,
because with this one I can do more with it. I can run the
camera with movie-maker2 and with the other cord I have to
use the remote control. However that cable when plugged
in, seems to work consistently. But even so the software
that came with the camera is ImageMixer 1.5 and
ImageTransfer. Depending on what I want to do will depend
on whether the software can find my camera.
It said in the instructions if you have trouble to
uninstall or delete the drivers and reinstall them.
However still the same problem. This camera is quite new
and i've been very careful with it. Incidently the
software works quite well with the fire where better than
the cable that came with the camera if you can figure that
out. I have tried to go to their web site to see if I
could find any updates but I don't seem to find any. The
print on their web page is so tiny that maybe I missed
something. Also today I bought a new fire wire cable
thinking there may be a short in the other one, however
the same thing happens. Could this mean there is a short
in the camera itself? God I hope not the camera is only
four months old. My wife got it for me for Christmas.
The fire wire does work but I have to play with it
sometimes. I hope someone can give me some suggestions.
Although this is a hobby, I thoroughly enjoy it and a
couple of weeks ago or so I purchased Papa John's new book
and I have ben enjoying it and learning a lot. Thanks If
anyone can help, hopefully someone has the same camera
that may have a little more experience, XP-home plenty of
ram- plenty of space, latest up-dates.
