I am wanting to use my digital camera through my computer. (Under cameras in
the control panel) Unfortunately windows does not list the sony brand at all
in there wizard as an option is tehre any way around this? Any solutions to
getting my camera to work on my computer would be mcuh appreciated.

Oh yeah The camera did not come with any disk for me to load software for it
to be used this way..

Thanks!!

The answer is you can't do this. This camera (and most digital cameras)
cannot be used as a webcam, if this is what you mean by "use my digital
camera through my computer" i.e, connecting the camera to your computer and
then taking pictures via computer control like you can with a webcam
(Logitech webcam is a typical example but there are others).
You can download pictures from this camera to your XP computer by simply
connecting it via the USB port but this is it. A few Minolta consumer
models will let you control the camera via your computer and professional
digital cameras are also set up for this, but this is it.

I have the same problem. I have a Sony DSC W1 and windows xp home edition
does not allow me to transfer my digital pictures on the camera to my
computer. I get a message saying that file 'ptpusd.dll' on windows xp home
editon service 1 cd is needed. I updated my windows xp and I still get the
same message. I too need help in this matter. thanks
