Sue sony for BILLIONS of dollars. Make it a separate lawsuit, not a class
action. Oh, and in the future, don't buy any product from Sony or any
affiliate of Sony. -Dave

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, as well as the device
themselves, but it didn't seem to help

Check out this webpage from the guy who discovered this Sony DRM malware....

http://www.sysinternals.com/blog/2005/10/sony-rootkits-and-digital-rights.html

About a half dozen paragraphs up from the comments, it details how he
re-activated his disabled CD drive.

Cheers,

This worked great and now I can play my CDs, so thanks, but it stil
can't find the CD Burner. Which I really need. Any ideas

Horrors upon horrors! I found this site
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14817570 ) which tells you ho
to remove the rootkit safely. I however have deleted several of th
offending bits which they insist are designed in such a way that yo
should never delete them. So I deleted things with regedit that see
have broken my cd/dvd burner.

Now what? Can I somehow put those back in? Or somehow replace them? O
is my computer now permanently broken
