Sony DCR-DVD403 Camcorder best software to edit with

Got camera love it, but picture package software that came with doesnt have
enough features or transitions for me. Any recommendations for software that
will
edit mpeg files from this camera would be appreciated.

Can windows moviemaker right back to mini dvd on camera ?
How is Pinnacle Studio ? which version would work best. should i wait for 10 ?
 
Thanks alot, will i be able to right back to camera from pinnacle 10, or am i
destined to need to by a dvd writer.... ?
