Hi all!

I have a two year old Sony CRX160E CD RW cd-writer, that has been
working perfectly with my AMD1400 system. But since one week back, it
can't burn a single disc without a "Write Error" from Nero after a few
percent's writing. I didn't change a single thing about my system that
could have caused this. And Sony's diagnostic program says the
hardware works alright.

Does someone have a clue?

Thanks a lot!

I had bad media once and couldn't figure out what was
wrong for a long, long, time. Nothing but coasters.

I took the whole system to a friend's house, and he
tried buring and it worked fine for him. Said I was crazy, etc. He used a
memorex blank. When I got home, and set up again, I tried a memorex blanck
he gave me, and that was it. It worked fine.

Thanks both for your suggestions, but I was in the middle of a 100
pack of media, where the first 70 worked fine, so that shouldn't be
it. Unless the bottom 30 are all bad??

I've had packs of 10 with a couple of bad-uns so....
however you cannot discount drive failure.
Try Nero Info tool,
http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/diag.html
See if you ASP1 layer is installed correctly. In XP I change from the
WinXP to my burning software's e.g Nero.NIT can be used on any system
as a diagnostic.

I tried the site, but the link to NIT was dead.

Thanks

Ok, I found NIT v 2 from another site and it says both system ASPI
and Nero ASPI are working. How do I change to the Nero ASPI?

Thanks!

Soz.My mistake. My XP has both enabled. If both are OK then that's not
the problem I suspect.
As stated I've had bad media before in a box :/

You think I could accidentally have come across ten bad media in a
row? Some production error?
Maybe I shouild try a new version of Nero?
