I posted this yesterday. I don't think the thread is leading me to a
solution. Please help if you can. Thanks

I have two copies of PP 2002 on two different computers both running Win
2000. Both have PP service pack 2. On one computer, Insert/Text Box offers
the selection of a vertical or horizontal box. This is not an option on the
other computer. On the computer that offers the option, I have vertical and
a horizontal button in the Drawings button bar at the bottom of the display.

How to I get the vertical Text Box option on the computer that does not have
it?

Regards;
David

I don't think I can help you any better than Steve. Do you have any
add-ins installed? If so, which ones? (Go to Tools > Add-ins and the ones
with check marks are installed.)

What is your objective? Do you just need to make vertical text boxes?

If you want to send me a screen shot of the tool you're talking about I'll
try to figure it out, but I see no such tool in PowerPoint 2002. Send it to
sonia @ soniacoleman dot com. Please don't post it here!

To make a screen shot:

1. Hold the ALT key down and then press the PrtScn key. An image of the
active window has now been copied to the "clipboard".
2. Open Microsoft Paint and go to Edit > Paste. The image will appear.
3. Go to File > Save As... and select GIF as the file format.
4. Send the resulting GIF file as a mail attachment.

Based on the screen shot you sent me, you must have Asian fonts enabled in
Office. I have sent you a screen shot of what the Help File says

Change horizontal text to vertical text

The feature described in this Help topic is only available if support for
Japanese,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or Korean is enabled through
Microsoft
Office Language Settings.

1. Select the placeholder containing the text you want to change.

2. On the Formatting toolbar, click Change Text Direction (and it
displays the icon) .

The 'Change Text Direction" button just cannot be found on my
Macintosh P-point 2001 (Service Upgrade 1). I just downloaded the
upgrade (23 Sept '03) version. The button is not only not on the
Formatting Toolbar or Palette, it's not even in the 'Customize'
library - I've scrolled though EVERY Toolbar option . HELPPPP!!!

Does Microsoft know about this?

I think you've found yourself in the wrong section here, Stephen.
This is the Windows PowerPoint newsgroup.
You might want to try posting in microsoft.public.mac.office.powerpoint

I'd try and describe the specific problem a little more completely.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
