I posted a question this week and it was posted and readable, but when I checked in to see if there was an answer 48 hours later, my posting had disappeared.

Hi Bernie,
I would suggest that you connect directly to the Microsoft
news servers. If you look in the headers you are not
connect directly and have a lot of hops form server to server.
The server you are using is not keeping much if it's gone in
48 hours. This is yours and you are using Outlook Express
like most of us.: (base on your headers)

This is Dave Peterson's who just replied to you

Directions to connect directly to the Microsoft newsservers in
Outlook Express 6.0, Newsgroups
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/ie/oe6nws01.htm

Postings saved on server currently go back to Feb 12th thought
it is possible there mey be 90 days and I had to reset group on
my compuer. I would suggest before you read in posting
Tools, Options, Read (tab), Get 500 headers at once,
read in postings and then right clik on the newsgroup and "catch Up"
then remove the limitation in your tools, options. If you have
high speed access you can read them all in.

or you can simply paste the following into your IE Web Browser
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.excel.misc
and the account will be set up for you. No passwords or anything.
but you will not pick up non microsoft newsgroups on the
msnews.microsoft.com newsserver.
