something like freeze panes in front page 2003?

If you mean setting a cell so that it stays fixed as the page scrolls behind it, yes.
It's accomplished with CSS or javascript.

The CSS version requires a work around to work in IE.

There was a thread about this a couple of days ago.
You should be able to find some info on www.alistapart.com
