something keeps changing my desktop folder setting, help !

I want to set my desktop folder to icon view and no status
bar, but in window explorer, I like to set it to list view
and with status bar. The problem is after a while, my
desktop folder icon will somehow get changed to list view
and with status bar. Anyone know how to have desktop folder
view different than window explorer view? I have tried lots
of different idea and they all won't work. I've read this
problem from some other www forums, but I still can't find
out how to fix this.
 
wow thanks alot, my folder view seems ok now for now. I
have visited some other www forums, people suggested lots
of stupid ideas and none of them work.
