A big difference between the older XP Pro I have it running and Vista
Ultimate (that I am running now) is the difficulty I'm having making sure
only one instance of Notepad is running on a given file: for example I want
to have only one instance running on my ability to edit "scrap.text".

What is the best means of accomplishing this?

Easiest way is to make sure you close Notepad when you are finished editing
a file.

go back to XP
Vista SUX or
d/l and try Win7 RC

That's an interesting approach. It took Vista a few years to get everything
right. I think I'll give Windows 7 a few years, too.

You ARE kidding correct? Vista has not been, is not now, and will not
EVER be right! It would require major rewrites to "get everything
right," something that just ain't gonna happen Jack. Win7 is the future,
for Microsoft now. Vista will fall to the wayside, just as Win Me did
before it.

G'day
