I came home yesterday and saw that Lycos side search had
installed itself on my desktop. When I went to remove
programs and removed it, I havent been able to get back
on to internet explorer. I can get onto the internet
using AOL, so I know its not a problem wiht my modem or
connection. I have tried all the different support
options listed on this site, and have installed the
latest service pack, thinking that a driver or some other
file might have been deleted, and that the service pack
would fix the poblem. I have since run a spyware
program, thinking that maybe something was installed that
could be causing this problem and found a few spyware
programs and deleted them all, and still no use. Please
someone help me, I dont want to reinstall Windows and
backup all my info, because that would just be a big
headache, but I'm thinking that might be what I have to
do. if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks

Try running the Internet Explorer repair option...
On the Add\Remove Programs Control Panel select Internet Explorer and press
the repair button.
Or
In the run dialog (Start\Run menu option), copy and paste the following

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

and choose the repair option.

Mike, I can't thank you enough. You are a lifesaveer!!!!
