VPN will not connect to pptp server.

I have done everything and tried everything that I can think off.
Obvious answers like port forwarding etc.

It is a fault in my desktop registry or XP SP2 somewhere. I have looked
a many reg keys. I can see the connection going out to the server but
nothing happens after that except 800 or 651 error. I have been to
every website I know of discuusing this, none can help.

It is not a problem connecting to the server, since the laptop I have
is setup the exact same as the desktop except for build (both are XP
SP2 but internals are different).

I have even ran the pptpclnt and pptpsrv test programs from within my
Lan between the desktop and laptop and get the proper responses back
that I am supposed to get.

If you can help me fix this problem then you can be assured that you
are the Master at Windows VPN problems.

Thank you.

Specifically, do you have any other VPN client software installed on your
desktop?

Can you post the ras tracing logs from that client? See

for help on collecting logs.

Also, do you have any additional software installed on the problematic
client which is not present on the laptop?
