hi

i've tryed to get this iSCSI driver running. installed it and so on, but i
cannot mount any drive to a remote machine. is there any example
(documentation) about it?

BTW,
We are running iSCSI but not with the Ms driver. We have 2 Win2K
systems, one with Intel and the other with Adaptec TOE NICs as initiator and
a NetApp filer as the target.
Works great, very easy to setup. Not sure if we will evaluate the Ms driver
yet though.

hi

i'm not so familar with this new iSCSI, but very interrested. we plan to buy
a SAN next week and i'd like to attach the webservers to this SAN, too.
there are different ways from my view. one way is connection the 2
webservers over a SMB share hosted by the fault tollerant SQL Servers
connected to the SAN. don't hurt me - i know mixing fileserver and SQL is
not the best idea. but a simply unused passive SQL server is out thrown
money, too. this box is only used for minutes a year on a server fault...

therefor my idea was - installing the iSCSI driver on the "unused" box and
attach the webservers to this box via iSCSI. i don't know what is faster SMB
or iSCSI!? and i don't know if it is possible to create a fault tollerant
config with iSCSI and Windows Enterprise Sever. finaly i tryed to config
this - but was unsuccessfull. i don't understand how to config this Ms iSCSI
driver...

lets describe what i've done...

1. installed the "Complete iSCSI Initiator" on a Windows 2000 SP4 Server
(SRV1)
2. installed the "iSNS Service" on the same machine
3. installed the "Complete iSCSI Initiator" on a Windows XP Professional
(CLIENT1)
4. add on CLIENT1 under iSNS the IP of SRV1 Server
5. tryed to add under "Target Portals" the SRV1 IP with Port Default > OK
6. get the Error "Initiator Instance Does Not Exist"

setup told me on SRV1 the services are started automaticaly... whats wrong?
