Joanne

My computer is really starting to get on my nerves now, I
am having problems accessing my email account, I keep
getting a message saying:

"Sorry we could not sign you in because the sign in name
you entered does not exsist or your password is incorrect"

The thing is my sign in name does exsist & my password is
correct because I have no problems signing in to my
hotmail account when I am at work.

I think something may be wrong with my system but for the
life of me I dont know what the hell it is.

I am also having difficulty accessing my internet bank
account, I just keep getting page can not be displayed
page.

I did speak to some technical support guy from my phone
company and he went through most of my computers security
settings with me but even he couldnt help because this
didnt sort out the problem and I still cannot access my
email account or bank account.

If anybody can help I would be very grateful

Hi Joanne
Im having exactly the same problem, it started on
1/08/2003, Have problems accessing websites aswell it
tellls me page cannot be displayed
Just thought I would let you know you are nor alone with
the messeanger problems. I'm tearing my hair out.

Greetings Joanne,

Here are some suggestions you might want to check/try:

1. The date on your computer needs to be set properly -- double click the clock verify that
the time and date are set.
2. If your password information is not saved, verify that you are typing it in with the
correct case (uppercase or lowercase).
3. Change your password @ http://memberservicesnet.passport.com/memberservice.srf, then try
signing in again.
4. If you use a firewall (like ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security etc. ), it's possible
that Messenger doesn't have the correct rights to access the Internet, especially since you
upgraded. You may need to re/add Messenger to the allowed list of programs in your firewall
if this is the case.
5. If you disabled your firewall in the past, it still may be blocking Messenger -- try
restarting it and see if that helps the situation. You also might try uninstalling an
installed firewall, to verify that it isn't causing a problem (even if it is disabled).
6. Clear your IE cache and cookies -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the
Delete Cookies button.
7. Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check
for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL
3.0' is checked, then click OK.
8. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK

Then try again.

John - It seems you have this cookie cutter answer to this problem. IT
DOESN'T WORK!

You also seem to have ignored the rest of us after posting this answer.

I've followed all of these suggestions and still have this problem. I can
sign in to my hotmail account manually. Perhaps making the last version of
windows messenger before the update available would help.

I grow tired of typing in my password on almost every site that Passport
used to log me into. When is Microsoft planning on addressing this issue?
