some web sites not found or won't display

Howdy-

There are a few sites that always result in an error.
They either cause a DNS error (couldn't find blah.htm) or
cause a "page cannot be displayed" error.

I have a feeling this happened after I ran ad-aware and
the spybot search and destroy. I've checked the host
file, and it is empty.

I can't even access major sites like "hpshopping.com"

I ran the lpsfix, but nothing changed. Am I looking at a
windows xp reinstall?

elio,
Go to: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic", copy and paste hijackthis.log into your new message.
