I have PowerPoint 2002 with SP-2, Window Media Player 9
Series & Windows 2000 SP-4 and since I have done the
latest updates some, not all of my embedded mpg videos
will not play in my PowerPoint presentations. The image
box will show the first image but then goes white. Some
of the videos work fine.

I can play all of the videos in Microsoft Media Player
(Series 9) without any problem at all.

I'm stumped!

Any ideas????

You may have seen my messages on the forum over the last
week or two. Unfortunately few people have been able to
help.
I have been using video clips, short ones in my PP
presentations for some while, but I am a learner in video
editing which I have started in Premier 6.5
The problems have been huge. I think PP2003 makes things
somewhat easier.....???
I did not know that I need to have the MPEG encoder on the
desktop as well as the laptop which will be used for the
lectures to run MPEG2s.
Are you running MPEG1 or 2s?
I have had some long delays with MPEG1s in the past in PP
when opening in the presentation.
I am saving my MPEG2s as variable DVD Low bitrate of about
4000 and quality of 35 in Premier - you may find this
information useful.
I have had some problems in trying to run Windows Media
Player videos in PP hence my preference to MPEG2s. The
quality is better and they run smoother.
So I have had to install Premier 6.5 on both machine. Do
not upgrade to the latest 1.3 encoders. There are I am
told some generic encoders on the Adobe website, but I
thought it would be simpler to use the same on both
machines.
I am now running upto 9 and a half minutes of video MPEG2
per slide in PP 2003 without problems.... so far. 16
minutes of video so far in the presentation. Keeping all
fingers crossed.
I am using a 800 KH laptop with 256 memory. WXP Pro,
PP2003,

Good luck - Peter
