Hey there. I have a home network, mainly used for sharing an internet
connection between 5 computers. I was wondering if there was any sort
of software (free or otherwise) that allowed me to see which pcs were
uploading/downloading from the internet and the speeds etc...

Not something to 'snoop' on what people were doing, but something to
see how the bandwidth was being used. Does that make sense?!

Anyone any ideas??

Cheers Steve

Hi
Assuming that you have a regular peer-to-peer Network sharing the Internet
through an Entry Level Router.
On peer-to-peer Network each computer is connected to the Internet on its
own, thus the only central point is the Router.
Entry Level Routers (unlike professional managed Routers that cost thousands
of $$$) do not record and readily provide such info.
The only way to find (or control) the traffic is to put software on each
computer. The application would measure the usage of the Internet.
Some software Firewall might provide this info as well as standalone
utilities.
Example: http://codebox.no-ip.net/controller?page=bitmeter2
To actually control the computer’s traffic, http://www.netlimiter.com
Jack (MVP-Networking).
