Hello... recently I update from XP to windows vista. I have some questions:

1. I saw that the usage of memory is around the 50% of my memory... (1 have
1Gb in RAM memory) this is a regular issue? or, I need to configure
something for reduce the amount of memory than windows vista use?

2. I install Visual Studio 2005 and show me a message that said me that the
program has know compatibility issue. Is it normal?

Thks

Both are normal. Welcome to computer upgrades. Windows XP was released in
2001. Windows Vista in 2006. RAM has changed.

Vista's memory management is quite different to XP.. it uses memory much
more effectively.. bear in mind that unused memory serves no useful purpose
whatsoever..

A very good point...thanks for that!

The essence is that Vista allocates as much as it can for the processes
running at the time, and if the user starts another process that takes up
large amounts of RAM, Vista will scavenge some back from the other processes
if it needs more than is currently free..

It certainly might make sense to turn off things you know you will never
use, but this is normal. As Mike Hall said, un-used RAM is wasted RAM.

Yes. Apparently Microsoft considered it more important to get Purble Palace
and MS Chess running in Vista than making sure their flagship OS works with
their flagship development platform as well as it could do.

Don't forget their database engine too...
