SOME PROGRAMS WON'T INSTALL

heeeeeeeeeeeellllppppppppppppppppppp!!!!

some installers work on my win2k advanced sever and some
don't.
it all started when my outlook started acting weird, i
reinstalled ie6 then all of my office programs started
hanging so i reinstalled them too. now if i try to install
certain programs the installer clocks and dissapears the
install never starts.
i downloaded system mechanic which has the same installer
icon, and that worked so why wont the others. the programs
that wont install are all development programs
visualage cobol, acucibol, and flexus cobol, three
different companys.
i tried downloading msiexec 2.0 from microsoft, i
installed it and that did not help.
i used system mechanic registry repair and that did not
work.
what the **** is going on. it's been 3 days and i'm going
nuts.
please dont tell me i have to reinstall the os because the
cd rom broke on this pc and i'm using a usb cd.
i tried to get to the repair stage on the disk but it
says 'please insert the windows advanced server cd', and
sits there.
i think i now have a brain tumor.
