Even though popup blocker on IE6 on one PC that I use (WinXP-Pro SP2) is set
on high, some popups will always get through. These are
www.tribalfusion.com, www.fastclick.com, 205.180.85.40, about:blank ,,,,,
mostly on sites like DrudgeReport.

Also happened in Firefox 1.04 but after installing a new beta patch, they
stopped there.

This PC was checked for trojans, viruses, adware, BHO exploits, and other
parasites, but come squeaky clean. MSN Messenger has been removed and
Windows Messenger is disabled in Services. Windows Firewall is enabled.

Is there a way to stop them?

Thanks in advance.

Hi SKS

Unfortunately there are some types of pop-ups that cannot be blocked.
Perhaps a third party blocker may assist.

The Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker will still allow pop-ups windows to
appear in a few instances such as when:. The site generating the pop-up has
been added to a list of Allowed sites.

. The pop-up opens from a site listed in the Trusted Sites or Local
Intranet zones.

. ActiveX controls initiated from a Web site open the pop-up.

Thanks Sandi,

Your response did lead me in the right direction - I just disabled
JavaScript and the popups stopped like they came across a solid wall!

That also prevented a few other sites from functioning properly - like I
could not do maintenance in Yahoo! Mail, could not open the text version of
a webpage - like on MSNBC. But I added those sites to the allowed sites and
things are going fine now.

Regards and thanks again.
