The minimail e-mail client looks interesting to me.
Anyone familiar with these products & whether they are safe?
Or do I hafta run that installer myself to find out. :)

Seems pretty simple and straightforward to me. Nothing particularly
special about it though.

Be careful what you wish for....

If you like the minimalist approach to e-mail, try iScribe at

http://www.memecode.com/scribe.php

It's surprisingly complete to be such a small simple program.

Seconded. The beta has been stable without causing me problems for the last
three months. I love the calender feature with reminder that's build in.
One downside is that it only supports one account.
I use it besides Kaufman Mail Warrior 3.70 beta available here:

http://www.geocities.com/kaufmansoft/

It's small, stand-alone and very powerful when it comes to setting rules.

I second MW!

Haven't heard from Alex since he was swallowed up by the university. I think
about him occasionally. He was a talented programmer to be only 17 years
old. I'm hoping he will soon re-surface and dazzle us with some updates.

Ok, thanx for the replies. I'll say here, the reason I said it
sounded interesting to me, is that it does attachments. My
current e-mail client, Popcorn does not.

Both iScribe and Kaufman Mail Warrior do attachments to, so you could try
them if you're interested.

Let me ask, if you know, Do they both handle sending and
receiving attatchments. The reason I ask is I just found out
Minimail only sends no recieve.

Minimail is an e-mail sender only. Since it won't receive incoming mail,
there are no security issues AFAIK.

I have used Minimail 2.1.1 < http://www.pawsoft.com/?p=minimail/home > for
a couple of months now. It's reliable, stable and fast. I use it when I
don't want to start up my other (bulky) e-mail client.

Cheers,
TG

Thanks for that. I see exactly what you mean after having
installed it today. Didn't realize that it didn't do pop.
Does seem peachy for use as you specified.

Yes, they do both handle sending and receiving attachments.
If you try out Mail Warrior, make sure to grab version 3.70 beta 1.
The prior versions are unstable on my machine.
And for iScribe I suggest you grab the latest test-version, it's amazing.

Will do. Thanks for the info!

I too like MailWarrior very much. Unfortunately, Alex Kaufman hasn't
updated his software in the past two years and I fear he has also
stopped maintaining it.

Another small-and-compact mail client project has started about 1
year ago, it is called SiMail, is opensource, supports import of
MailWarrior data but still is in its early stages. The project is
hosted at sourceforge :
