Some months hatched; others not

Today is 14th August. I am trying to book a meeting on 1st October.
All of September's calendars for the invitees are visible on the
"Attendee availability" tab, but October's calendars are all hatched |
greyed | grayed out.

Can anyone suggest why?

Default free/busy setting is to publish 2 months worth of data. Try
setting it at 3 months for everyone and see if Oct. becomes available.
