Some how I am unable to type / insert any letter or data in my of

My whole Microsoft program seems to be frozen. While I can access Word or
Excel, bring up a work sheet or spreadsheet but I cannot type anything or
insert any data. Each time I press a key I hear a bing sound and no letters
or numbers appear. Though the cursor key is blinking. So whats the problem?
