FYI:

1) Administrator acct is disabled and does not have a password by default.
In the past it has been considered desirable to rename the Admin acct and
give it a password.
Also, it can be desirable to have an enabled second Admin group user acct in
case the first one gets locked out.

2) Firewall does not display a notice for a blocked outbound attempt (it can
for an inbound attempt). It does make an entry in the log file. This is
much less functionality than a program like ZA which notifies you and lets
you decide what to do.

3) Windows mail does not support HTTP based email (as it did in XP)

Correction:

3) Windows mail does not support HTTP based email (as it did in XP)

should read:

3) Windows mail does not support setting up an account for a HTTP email
server such as hotmail (as it did in XP)

Yes, this so that users of Hotmail and other "non-revenue generating" email
accounts are subject to advertisements in either IE7 or Windows Live
Desktop.

There are several third-party applications available. (I'm sure Mikey will
be along to tell you he uses "Hotpop" so he can collect another commission
cheque.)

MS Outlook 2007 does support setting up a HotMail acct. Not suggesting that
that is the optimal solution to this issue, not by a long shot... but it may
explain why Mail doesn't support it, i.e., putting forth my best, which
probably sucks, MS Sales Person voice: "Ya want http mail? Buy Office!"
