Senario...I have 2 separate offices. Office 1 is on
Win2000 and Win2003 Server in a domain called domain1.
Office 2 is on NT4.0 in a domain called domain2.
Office 2 will be upgraded to Win2003. Eventually, these
2 offices will be connected via a VPN solution. My
question is this....Would it be best to pre-setup the new
server for office 2 at office 1's site to give us 1
domain name and then separate the two servers and put the
new server over to office 2. Reason I ask is that I
think it would be better this way for when the VPN
solution comes into play so that both sites know of each
other. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful.

Thank you.

It depends how long it will be untill your VPN connection will take to get
going. I would not go this route if you VPN connection is more that a month
out. If you need the need the win2003 now make it a member server for the
time being. then after you get the VPn going upgrade the domain to 2003.

Thanks for the response Paul. Yes, it is more than a
month before this will be done. You are suggesting that
I setup the new server while attached to office 1 as a
member and then separate them so that the new server can
go into the remote office? Is this correct?
