water is a problem. I tied color laser :O i damaged the fusing section.
So i need an ink that is water resistent an i read in some pages that
solvent based ink is water resistant so i want to try.
Where can i buy it? Have any one tried it?

Hello,

First of all, think that you don't only need water resistive ink. For
example the usual aqueous pigment inks (that are water resistant) don't
print on not absorbent materials. So you need solvent based inks. But
all desktop printers don't endure the solvent inks (event these that
are mild solvent, like the Roland's or Mutoh's plotter inks). You need
a specific ink for desktop printer, but unfortunately I don't know a
source anymore (I have had a source but it doesn't supply the specific
inks anymore).
Where do you live? I suspect a correct place to look for is Far East.
Also have in your mind that finding these inks is a very difficult
task, as those inks are not frequent used.

A google search for "HP solvent ins turns up a fair amount of hits,
including the following:

The Specialty Printing Systems group at HP are the folks that provide
the special purpose inks. The link to their home page is
http://www.hp.com/oeminkjet/?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN.

For an example, the following cartridge specifically says it prints on
Tyvek:

If your deskjet uses a head/ink cartridge combination, you may be able
to find some cartridges filled with solvent inks, or if not, some
waterproof pigment inks.

If not, and depending upon your budget, you may want to look into if one
of the inexpensive C series Epson printers with Durabrite inks might be
less costly. Durabrite inks are waterproof when dry. However, you need
to test if they will work on Tyvek. I suspect it will work.

I don't know if the standard head will work with solvent inks.

Tyvek doesn't work like some plastic surfaces. Due to the fibrous
nature of the material, the ink will soak into it in most cases, which
is why I suggested some type of pigment ink. I have printed on Tyvek
with dye inks and they are absorbed into the surface, but there is a LOT
of dot gain.

What exactly do you need to print onto the Tyvek?
Color or B&W?

Would a UV cure ink be suitable?

And by Deskjet, doy mean a particulat model of HP inkjet, or inkjets in
general?

Would you consider hiring the job out?
