Hi,
Thanks for your help, but I think I found the the reason that Outlook 2003
was not automatically receiving my mail.

It seems to happen when I also have a copy of Outlook Express 6 open,
although the e-mail accounts on the two programs are different and use
different servers. (I use as OE as a news reader and for some non-business
mail.) Somehow, this interfered with Outlook 2003 doing its thing.

I tested it by closing Outlook, and sending an e-mail to myself from OE;
then closing OE, reopening Outlook. The message arrived automatically as it
should in Outlook.

The solution to this is to set OE to "Leave mail on server" because the first email program opened will retrieve the mail. The default email program then can retrieve the copy off the server.
