Despite several gallant efforts by newsgroup users, no one
can figure out this problem:

"I cannot use the search function of Yahoo or Google on my
computer. Both result in an error 404 message."

Many people have quickly surmised this to be the Qhost
virus. However, several diligent cleanings from Semantic
have neither found nor eliminated said virus.

Do you have the answer? Hmmm?

do a search for any HOSTS files. there should only be one
in winnt\system32\drivers\etc. if its in some help dir,
then delete. then go to mcafee's web site and search on
qhosts and do the manual removal of registry keys for
internet search. then do a full system scan and it will
find something.
