Make sure you have an unarchiver that will deal with .TAR (tar-ball) files.

FWIW, I tried this a couple of months ago and was totally unsuccessful
in getting it to work. It seemed to break if you have the most recent
version of Python (2.3.2) installed, which I did (and do). My knowledge
of Python at the time was such that I couldn't get it running.
YMMV.

You are wrong it is a freeware version v1.6.
The reference to a trial is if you wish to download an enhanced
version eg with undo and presumably other benefits which I haven't
checked.
If you download that version it is restricted to 30day use.
A visit to the site makes it clear that you can download Free Spider
2003.
Before deterring others, out-of-hand, I suggest you make a more
thorough check.
