I have a Sony DV camcorder that I use for work and often need to burn CD's that have the date/time stamp visible on the disc. I understand that the firewire connection I use to link MM2 with my camera may be the problem. I am a bit of a rookie when it comes to computers but is there some way easy way to fix this problem? Any help would be great.

Hello there,

The Date/Time stamp is captured and used by Movie Maker. Its used to create the
listing of clips...but thats all, it does not let you display it on screen If
this is your situation then there is no problem.

If it is the case that you are not getting that info I suggest you check your
manual to ensure that info is actually sent (That might be down to how old your
DV camera is)

If the camera does send the info then you have two possibilities (and this
depends on exactly how the data stream is transmitted I guess) The ilink cable
or the card. Apart from ensuring the card is well seated and checking its
function in the device manager there is not much else you can do.

The easiest test would be to plug your camera into some other machine, a friend
perhaps, using both your cable and if possible a friends cable

The date/time stamp should still be in the original .AVI file which you
captured. Encoding the file may strip it off.

You can use this utility to verify or add the date/time stamp to your .AVI
files:
