Software with the Office XP look, such as smartftp, or or Tugzip,
what's in common between them in how they were made? I mean, do they
share a a certain GUI toolkit for that look? is this how visual studio
applications look like?

(sorry, i'm not a programmer)

The "XP" look sucks. Icon clarity was NOT a priority.
