Does anyone know how to configure clients to connect to a
Software Update Services server? We have 2 test clients
that we have configured according to the SUS Deployemnt
guide, we are using Policies to locate the server.

However, when we run Windows Update it still goes to the
Microsoft web-site to get its updates. Does anyone have
any suggestions?

Did you download and install the client software?

WUAU22.msi is suppose to be the latest version. once you
install it on each system you can configure the update
location and schedule.

Good Luck.

From the start menu go to run and enter "gpedit.msc"
This will open the group policy editor
From the Local Computer Policy
Computer Configuration
Right click Administrative Templates. Then left
click "Add/Remove Templates"
Then click the Add button
Select the wuau.adm template.
Next close the Add/Remove Templates windows.
Double click Windows Components folder
then, double click Windows update folder.
Double click "Configure Automatic Updates"
Select "Enabled"
Choose how you want automatic updating to work:
2 = Notify for download and install
3 = Auto download and notify for install
4 = Auto download and schedule to install
If you choose 4 then schedule the install time
Click the Next Policy button
"Specify intranet Microsoft update service location"
Choose "Enabled"
Set the intranet update service for detecting updates
http://susserver
Set the intranet statistics server
http://susserver
click Next Policy and choose
"Not configured" for "Reschedule Automatic Updates
scheduled installations"
Click Next Policy
"No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates
installations"
choose "Enabled" if you don't want the computer to reboot
automatically
or "Not configured" if you want it to reboot.

Even if you have configured your clients to connect to your SUS server, if clients run Windows Update they´ll be able to go and will go to the Microsoft Windows Update Site. (if they are administrators at the computer)

This is the way it works, I sugest you to disable and remove links to windows update using GPO, the only problem is that you have to do it in the user configuration under start menu & task bar, while windows update client configuration is made using computer configuration using GPO, so you´ll have to place a GPO at domain level at least, to have all computers and users affected by the GPO.

Also take a look at the SUS FAQ, you question is answered there:
