Hi,

having problems with SUS in a domain - have installed SUS
and it appears to be working ok (synchronises fine and I
can approve specific updates), but even though pc's seem
to access the server (the log file shows most pcs are
connecting to it, none of them are actually updating.

I've installed and configured the relevant template in AD
group policy, but don't know what else I need to do.
Windows update of clients is greyed out as I'd expect once
group policy is active, but the clients don't actually
update (I've logged in as admin, run windows upate
manually and there are a load of updates outstanding).

Any help anyone?

Andy

Hello Andy

I have been experiencing the same result as yourself. I
have read the SUS DeployGuide and the SUSOverview but I
still appear to have missed some key issue.

I have setup my SUS server on a fully patched windows
2000 box. The updates are downloaded and i have approved
a select few that I know my test PC's require.

I created a TestOU within my domain and added the test
computer accounts to that OU.

I added the wuau.adm file and tried these configurations:
Under Configure automatic updates.
Options 3 and 4 (neither caused updates to occur)

Under Specify Intranet:
I have http://SUS (the name of my server)

Under Reschedule:
I have enabled for 5 minutes after startup

No Auto Restart is Enabled.

I have tried for two days withdifferent setting but the
updates do not take place. There is no activity (good or
bad) recorded is the Event Viewer.

I was hoping you may have foundd a solution to your issue
and could share it with us.

Thanks

Chuck
