Hi all!

Twice now, with terrible ramifications, I've uninstalled
some software and it's deleted everything under the local
settings\app data\microsoft folder except the Windows one.

This includes the Outlook folder, which of course, holds
my .pst files.

The first time it was some minor utility. The 2nd time,
just now, it was uninstalling my HP Office Jet.

Has anyone experienced this? I never, ever have, even in
my years as an Exchange Admin. I'm freaked, mad, and
kicking myself.

Since I know all hope is lost, I'd like to figure out why
this is happening.

Oh - the only other oddity, was that the next time I open
Quicken? It's unable to find the data files, although
thank GOD they're still there.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Christine

Doesn't really sound like and Outlook problem to me except for that the
pst-file is gone as well. Why don't you move your pst-file outside your
application data?

Just for the record; I never came accross either that when an application
gets uninstalled that the local settings folder gets emptied.

I haven't seen this, either, even in the very into of
Outlook in 1995 or its predecessor, Microsoft Exchange. I
would have told you it couldn't happen. I should know
better.

Why don't I just move it? Not a problem since I have
NONE. That's rather simplistic, given the fact it I could
never have predicted the need.

I woke up remembering the utility I first uninstalled that
deleted the .pst files. It was Norton Antivirus. I swore
that did it. They swore it didn't. I owe them an
apology.

Thanks anyway, though. Hope does spring eternal.

Christine
