Hello,

We are working with a Single Board Computer (SBC) that has dual LANs and we
were under the assumption that this could act as a hub. We were told my the
manufacturer of the board that you need to purchase software from Microsoft
(ISA Server ... I think) that will enable this functionality. The problem is
we were told it costs $1000.00.

I was wondering if people we using other solutions to enable hub capability
on a Dual LAN based SBC.

Thanks,
Mark

XPe can have same functionality as Windows XP Professional.
You can easily bridge two or more networks. (Layer 2). In XP you can bridge
networks trough GUI in Network Connections.

I think that there should be IP routing and forwarding service as well so
your device could be used like layer 3 switch. (It was present in Win 2000
so it should be available in XP as well).

I hope that you are not planning to use SBC and XPe for this purpose only.

Slobodan

Slobodan,

Thank you for the quick reply! We will look into your suggestions.

And no, we are not using this only for hub functionality. The board was
about the same price to have dual LAN capability, so we want to offer the
hub as an included feature when they don't have extra network drops.

Thanks
